Aufgaben:

• Lead Advanced Product Development projects from concept to SOP, following our R&D process, to be realized by function lead of the APD engineers in this product family and through internal and/or external partners
• Technical expert and technology manager for all topics related to coatings, with a focus on PVD (MVSD) sputter coatings, including product, process, equipment and supplier expertise
• Responsible for ensuring series readiness:
• o Process compatibility o Process/yield optimization
• o Control of product development with the coating suppliers
• o Development management of support processes Engineer specialist function
• o Product and process development management for coatings
• o Technical expert to define the best production concept (equipment, product portfolio, location, supply chain, etc.)
• Be the direct interface for the Product Manager, feeding market information and product roadmaps for direction, and self-sufficiently develop the corresponding R&D strategy to reach product maturity within the targeted time frame and within budget
• Create development budgets for product family and manage development activities against this budget in own responsibility
• Have a thorough understanding of the market, including suppliers, technologies, IP, customer expectations, end consumer needs and supply chains and use these insights to guide the APD Engineers
• Understand manufacturing processes in and outside, required for series production of new products at highest quality and lowest cost levels
• Apply business case analysis and planning experience for commercialization of new products for APD projects
• Actively participate in our Front-End Innovation process by contributing new concept and product ideas in exchange with the Product/Innovation Managers
• Overlook and coordinate the manufacturing and analysis of prototypes, samples and concepts
• Provide design, prototype & validation direction for improving existing products
• Play the key role in defining specifications, standards and inspections methods for new products and features
• Serve as a backup or relay companion to other Product Owners within the GCC or in different regions
• Initiate / participate in the IP management process
• Visit new and established suppliers looking for advances in new technology, status of existing product, opportunities for cost saving, current capabilities and supporting root cause analysis
• Be the go-to mentor for junior level or new team members in the GCC for the product family
• Foster relationships with universities and outside lab

Anforderung:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, physics, optics, material science or related field or equivalent experience required
• 8+ years experience in relevant role with career progression
• Automotive supplier experience or would be a plus as well as the knowledge in materials such as glass, coatings, plastics
• Product design experience including GD&T and DFMEA
• Working knowledge of automotive customer testing and performance specifications
• Experience with strategic planning, positioning and messaging, forecasting, budgeting and analysis of business situations, competitive profiles and pricing analysis.
• Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
• Readiness to travel up to 25% within North America, Europe and Japan with valid driver’s license
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to produce strong business results
• Detail oriented with the ability to track and monitor projects from inception to completion
• Business fluent English is a requirement, German language skills are a plus
